About me

Katrina Westin is an energetic writer and performer with a love for comedy.  Currently completing the Scriptwriting Program and Algonquin College, Katrina is an active member of Ottawa’s Improv Embassy and co-founder of The Drunk Poets' Society. She is currently developing a feature length comedy on the behind the scenes antics of the opera world.

No stranger to the operatic stage herself, Katrina is a classically trained singer who has performed as far away as Japan.  In North America, she has appeared with the Montreal-based Jeunesses Musicales du Canada as a featured member of their touring opera company. Forever fascinated with the people and stories behind the music, she was awarded the Joseph-Armand Bombardier Graduate Scholarship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada in 2013 for her research on Nova Scotian contralto, Portia White.

Katrina holds a Master of Music degree from the Schulich School of Music at McGill University, and has received additional training at the Highlands Opera Studio and the Franz Schubert Institute in Austria.
